This past weekend, Monja and I had the pleasure of going to Corgi Beach Day, which is literally an afternoon where hundreds of corgis (400+ to be exact) congregate to spread immediate joy and cuteness. And also possibly to meet other short-legged friends, but that’s besides the point.
Since this was our first Corgi Beach Day and also our first adventure to a dog beach, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. When we got there, we realized it was some sort of corgi utopia. There were corgis everywhere. E-ver-y-where. Underneath beach umbrellas. Lapping up water from bowls that weren’t theirs. Splashing in the ocean. You get the picture. Thankfully I dressed Monja (above) in his “corgi derp bandana” (from this shop), otherwise he very well might have gotten lost. Many of the other corgis had more elaborate costumes though. Let me introduce you to some of our new friends.
These corgis are clearly very athletic.

Here is Monja playing with a new bunny butt friend. Also, this corgi’s life jacket is very necessary.

These goggles are also very necessary.

This corgi is having an identity crisis. Just kidding, this is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi. It’s just another type of corgi! Isn’t it super adorable? I’ve secretly considered getting one in the future. hehehe.

This is the equivalent of a human handshake.

This is Monja and another new friend. Possibly not a corgi, but equally as cute.

These two just wanted to say hello!

This corgi is actually a shark. I know, very confusing.

In case you didn’t know what one looked like, I snapped a shot of this baby corgi butt.

There was also a corgi costume contest. This little lady was the winner.

In addition to the costume contest, there was a limbo contest. Perfect for our short little friends.

And here’s my son, enjoying his time at the beach with new satellite-eared buddies!

If you’re interested in making it to the next event, it’s already being planned for October 18th in Southern California. Details here! I’ve already got it in my planner — join us! Also, all proceeds from this event went to benefit Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue. If you’re interested in givin’ some love to our stumpy little friends, check it out!

This is possibly one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen….I’d love to go one year!
Do they show love to other breeds, too? Chocolate labs, perhaps??
~ Samantha
You should come!! Definitely love for other breeds — anyone is welcome!
Your caption for the shark corgi was too cute.
haha thank you!
No lie, when you first started talking about taking Monja to Corgi Beach Day I don’t even know how long ago, I was so excited!!! I also can’t get over that dog in the shark outfit. Plus, cardigan corgis – so cute! Would make a great sister for Monja ;] Glad that he was on his awesome-est behavior and you guys had a great time!
I’m glad you’re excited about Corgi Beach Day, too!! 🙂 Monja definitely needs a shark outfit now 😉
How adorable! Looks like fun! I’ve never heard of a meet-up for just one breed of dog before.
Yeah, kind of odd! I think corgi people are pretty insane about corgis haha. I’m in so many corgi groups online and the other owners are constantly posting pictures and videos of their dogs hahah.
aww so many corgis! they are just so cute, they always look very excited!
haha they totally do!
OMGGGGG. Ok, so you fulfilled my wishes with the corgi photos and I can’t EVEN WITH THE LIFE JACKET. I want a shark corgi because YES!!! I’m trying to talk my husband into us getting a corgi…may this post give me the adequate fuel to win him over. AHHH! Please go to more corgi themed things in the future because it benefits the blogosphere.
hahaha I’m glad I have your support. I also must buy Monja a life jacket. If not for swimming then at least for pure cuteness.
Oh man, This is Jordan heaven! All those little legs come together for some fun in the sun!
hehe I know right!
Omg, I would SO love to go there with Lily. She is tri-colored, so she may actually stand out of the crowd a bit! But she doesn’t have a costume, which is inexcusable. I will have to get on that.
Too bad it’s so far away – but maybe another road trip is in order?
I think a road trip is definitely in order!! 😉 Some people came from other states, so you pretty much have no excuse. ;D
Oh my gosh, this is so, so, so cute!!! I want to go just to sit and watch all the corgis run around. Do you think my little Cav would be able to blend in? I’ll get her a little corgi-ear headband. 😉
Totally! Lots of other breeds came, too, so I think they’d love your little cav 🙂
OMG Ive been hearing all about this from other bloggers too but yet have seen pictures. This was pure magical. While I do not own a corgi myself (I have a baby girl pit bull) I appreciate dogs, in fact Im a bit of a dog lady. So these pictures warm my heart.
haha I’m a totally dog lady, too! Glad you liked these pics. 🙂
ahhh how adorbs!!
OMG. Maybe I’ll dress Duke up as a corgi and take him to the next corgi beach day haha. This is seriously the cutest day!!!
haha you should!! There were lots of other breeds there too. They don’t discriminate. 🙂
Hello! I love all these dogs/corgis in one place! I don’t know if they’d do this for Jack Russells or Pitties….Around where I live they do have dog surfing contests in the summer! -Jess L
A dog surfing contest sounds like just about the cutest thing I’ve ever heard.
I loved going to the dog beach with my neighbor’s corgis while I was growing up. She had both kinds of corgis and they’re just so wonderful! I’m glad this was a positive experience for you two. Did you make any friends that you plan to keep outside of the beach days?
Also, I follow via Bloglovin so when I click on your posts it’s opened with the Bloglovin bar at the top. I don’t know if this is specifically related to that, but when I get to the bottom of your posts it doesn’t have any of the comments loaded. It just says “__ Comments | Leave a Comment” And when I click on “Leave a Comment” it doesn’t usually switch over or open anything up until I right click and select “open in new tab.” I wasn’t sure if this was a problem or something with me…? It’s happened a few times recently. 🙂
Aw that’s awesome! I love that they had both kinds of corgis too. Hopefully that’ll be me one day 😀 We kind of hoped to meet people that could be Monja’s friends, but we didn’t really talk to many people. I’m going to start going to the dog park more though, so hopefully we’ll meet some dog buddies!
That’s so odd about leaving a comment through Bloglovin’! You’re the first person to alert me of that, but I’ll look into it today. I appreciate you telling me. 🙂 Thanks for commenting even though it’s a pain in the butt! haha 🙂
I hope you find some dog buddies, too. 🙂
This is awesome – that corgi with the shark fin is super cute! haha! I have a ‘shared-custody’ husky, and we often take him along to Husky Day at the dog park which they have here in Christchurch! It is so much fun to see all the dogs running around all happy having fun together 🙂
Awww a husky day sounds too awesome!
These are SO adorable! I have dog-envy something fierce, and while a corgi is a size too small for me, seeing all these adorable balls of fur makes me just squeal haha it looks like Monja had such a blast, I’m happy he’s having fun with other dogs 🙂
hehe thank you Johanna! 🙂
Ahhh you were in my hometown!! I am also not surprised that 4th of July dog one as that is a some major awesome going on!
haha totally! The costume theme was fourth of July, but she was definitely the most decked out. Monja would throw a fit if I tried to put sunglasses on him hahah
This is absolutely lovely. These pictures made me smile today, thank you! Corgis are so damn cute!
Glad to hear that, Michelle! 🙂
haha this is too cute!
Wow! That’s a whole lot of Corgi going on. It’s hard to tell one from the other (with a few exceptions). Looks like an incredibly fun time for Corgis from everywhere.
haha thanks for commenting, dad! 🙂
Happy Fourth to you, Melyssa G., and all of your followers!
This is quite possibly the best thing I’ve EVER heard of.
I’m right there with you, girl!
this is AMAZING! Monja looks like he had a lot of fun 🙂
haha he totally did! (And maybe I totally did, too). 😉
Melyssa! Posts like these make my heart sing “I need a corgi! Right now!”
Then just imagine me singing back, “yes, yes you do!”
This is just the most ridiculously adorable event ever!! I want a Corgi now! Can’t wait to hear about the next one 🙂
hehe it was awesome! Corgis are great. 😀
Corgi Beach Day! Oh my gosh, that’s adorable. That shark fin harness is fabulous. What a cool way to meet other Corgi owners and make friends (for the humans and the doggies)!
Yeah the shark fin was too awesome! 🙂
my heart. it stopped from the cuteness.
haha! I know the feeling!
Oh my goodness. This is way too much cuteness for just one post. It makes me want to get my hands on a sweet little Corgi! They’re just TOO adorable!
haha I’m glad you liked it!!
This has to be one of the most adorable days ever
haha it seriously is.
I spot my Luna and Twinkie in their surf shirts
Aww they looked super cute! Love their names too 🙂
I am dying!! I want a corgi so badly. This is adorable. 🙂
