Hi friends!! How was your Halloween weekend? Mine was fun and laid-back! Paul and I went to see the movie, Nightcrawler, on Halloween and thought it was pretty good. We also planned our Portland trip, which I’m stoked about! *heart eyes* And I got to hang out with one of my pals from Alt Summit, Jess. She’s such a sweetheart! Oh! And I even took up yoga (and I’m loving it!). It was a pretty good week. 🙂 I’m excited for November and December, because believe it or not, SoCal still has warm weather (and I want rain! And clouds! And sweaters!). Luckily it rained this weekend, so things are looking up. *grin*
How was your week?
Last Month’s Wishes
- Hire some awesome contributors! Yes! More to come from these awesome ladies. 🙂
- Plan something special for Monja’s birthday. Sure did! We all went camping in Crystal Cove for Monja’s birthday and it was a lot of fun. He also got loved on a whole lot, so he was a happy pup. Happy birthday baby Monj!
- Make real progress on my eCourse. Yes and no. Work got so crazy this month that I wasn’t able to work on it a whole lot. I think I need to take on less clients if I really want to make this happen!
- Plan our trip to Portland! Yep! Paul and I leave this Friday for a few days in Portland and I am stoked! We planned out our itinerary and I can’t wait to share our favorite spots with you all once we get back. 🙂
This Month’s Wishes
- E-COUUUURSSSEEE. I’m putting this as #1 because it’s something I really want to work on and finish. I think you’re all going to be pretty excited about it, too! Do you ever put something off because you can’t think of the right NAME for it? Bah! I feel like I have some great and helpful ideas, but I’m getting so hung up on what to call it that I’ve pushed it off again and again. Time to get over it and trudge on, right? 🙂
- Make yoga a habit. I recently started going to yoga classes and I am smitten! I want to make yoga a habit and go to classes consistently.
- Visit Portland! Woop wooooop! I can’t wait to get on a freakin’ airplane this week. There’s something about airports and flying that makes me SO happy. I can’t wait to go on a new adventure. 🙂
- Get back into blogging. Have you noticed that this blog hasn’t gotten as much love the past couple weeks? I have! And it’s bummin’ me out, you guys! October was my busiest month EVAR, so I had to focus a lot of energy on my design work, but I’m hoping November is more manageable. I miss being here everyday!
- Revise the “behind-the-scenes” parts of my business. You know, contracts, email templates, forms, etc. I revise and tweak things little by little as I go, but I think it’s time to devote half a day to knocking everything out and making sure all of my info is updated for clients.
What are your monthly goals for November?!

Looking forward to hearing about the Portland trip! I’m sure you guys will have a blast!! Yoga is on my goal list too, I’m really trying to get into an exercise routine. Best of luck on your November goals! Just name it The Best Damn Blogging E-Course Ever, that way you can check the title off and I’m sure something else will come to you as you work on it 🙂
haha I love your e-course name idea!! And you should try out yoga! I was trying to get into an exercise routine for-e-ver, and I fiiinally think that’s possible because yoga doesn’t feeeeel completely like exercise. I think you’d like it! 🙂
Portland is definitely one of the places I’d like to travel to– the Pacific NW in general is definitely on the top of the list. Hope you have fun and I can’t wait to read all about it when you get back.
I know how you feel when you say you love flying and airports. I do too! Something about packing your bags up and getting to go somewhere awesome for a few days really does your soul some good. I’m actually heading out to Los Angeles for a few days starting on the 12th.
How awesome that you’re going to LA soon! Have you been there before? What are you planning to do there? I just visited LA last weekend and I’m always surprised by how creative and bustling it is over there. 🙂
I’ve been to Los Angeles a handful of times, usually for a few days at a time. This time it’s for 80% of my trip. I have a family wedding but have Monday, the 12th free to do some sightseeing.
Ahh so fun! I hope you have a blast! 🙂
I love Portland! I just got back from a trip to the PacNW in September and Portland was my first stop. Food trucks, amaze-balls shopping, and just fabulous goodness all around. You’ll love it! Noun was one of my fave little shops to visit 🙂
I just recently discovered your blog and I’m smacking myself in the head for not finding it sooner – LOVE! I’ll be cyber-stalking you all over social media. Don’t mind me 😉 Happy day!
Oh Kirsten, I’m SO glad you stumbled on my little corner here! You are just a bundle of sunshine, I can tell! 🙂 That’s rad that you just got back from the Pacific Northwest. Where else did you visit? I’ll definitely be on the lookout for Noun — what a cute name, too!
Awww you’re too sweet 🙂 My mom and I took a trip out there – flew into Portland, spent a week driving 1500 miles up to northern WA and back to Portland. We visited Cannon Beach, Seattle, Anacortes (gorgeous, by the way)… I shared pics on my blog. It was fabulous!
Noun is in the Belmont neighborhood – such a cool place. I know you’ll have a blast!
So cool!! I was thinking Noun was a store — ha! I heard there is an Alphabet District too? Portlanders must love their words 😉
Ah man. I wish I had that excitement about flying and airports. Traveling is amazing and I wish I could do it every day. But flying? Dear God, no. Have a blast in Portland! I hear nothing but wonderful things!
Well good for you for not letting your fear of flying interrupt your obvious love of travel! What have been some of your favorite places you’ve visited?
Well I lived in Ireland for a semester so pretty much my whole time there was amazing. I spent a lot of time traveling around Ireland (via bus) but also got to go to London, Edinburgh, Barcelona and Brussels. Edinburgh was my favorite outside of Ireland.
So awesome! I’ve never been to Europe so I’m pretty jelly. Also, aren’t bus (or train) rides in foreign cities the best? I love looking at everything as we drive by.
I can’t wait to hear more news about your eCourse 😉
And I hope you have a lovely trip to Portland ♥!
Have a nice day Mel!
Thank you Cori! You’re always so sweet! How was your Halloween weekend? Do you celebrate it?
The weekend was great! I had a Halloween party with all my family; everybody wore costumes. I think this Thursday I’m going to make a blog post with some of my costume images, I was a broken doll 😛
Hugs for you Mel ♥! 😀
So awesome! Let me know if you do that blog post, I’d love to see it!
Hi Mel~
Today I made the blog post I told you about 😀
If you would like to see it I’ll leave you the link here (*^__^*)ノ♥

Love it! Those costumes are SO creative! Thanks for sharing, Cori. You look great! 🙂
Thanks to you Mel >w< ♥!
Portland is one of the places I want to visit too and I just started doing yoga too!
Well shucks, sounds like we are leading a double life over here, Hsiao-Ting! 🙂 How are you liking yoga?
haha i know! Yoga is great! A lot harder than I thought but I’m getting more flexible! I’m hoping to be able to bend down and touch the floor with my palm by the end of the month? Although I think that’s a bit aggressive haha …
OH! I totally can’t touch the ground without bending my knees, so that has been a goal of mine, too! Good luck! 🙂
Thanks! You definitely will be able to do it once you start taking yoga! I can see that I’m becoming more flexible slowly! Yay!
Ooh portland. I miss the ice cream at salt and straw.. and the second blue star donuts location is not as good as the first. 🙂
Ohh that place is on our list!! Never heard of Blue Star Donuts though! We’ll have to check it out 🙂
I look forward to seeing you make a habit of yoga! 🙂 I really enjoyed your entry about your first class.
Thanks for that encouragement, Melinda! So sweet of you. 🙂
Good luck with yoga! I started last year and have successfully incorporated it into my routine, it’s definitely worth sticking with!
Tessa / Bramble & Thorn
That’s awesome to hear, Tessa! I can’t wait to keep at it. 🙂
I hope that you have a super awesome time in Portland! Can’t wait for the recap! Your Halloween weekend sounds like it was full of all kinds of crazy goodness.
Thanks Stacia!! And it was a fun, relaxing weekend! What’d you do?
This past weekend I didn’t do much exciting. I took time off from work and and just gave myself a weekend to rest and read and refuel. It was a soul-feeding weekend rather than a weekend full of stories to tell. You feeling ready for your trip?
That’s awesome. I love those kinds of weekends and many of mine are similar, too! And yes, I’m feeling so ready!! I have a big to do list today, but I actually feel pretty excited to get everything done before tomorrow. 😀
I hope you have a great time! Can’t wait to hear more about it! 🙂
I love yoga too! I’m addicted to it now. Hope you have a great week!
That’s so awesome, Melissa! Also, nice name. 😉 😀
Lots of tidying up before flying to enjoy-your-guts-out land! Have tons of fun!!!
hehe thank you so much!! 🙂
I’m happy to have found another yogi….and from the comments it looks like a whole bunch of yogis 🙂 Good luck with all your goals!!
Your November sounds like it will be busy too, but in a good way – way to get it, girl!
And if you need someone to bounce names off of, I am totally just a short email away. I’d love to help if I can!
Have a great time in Portland! xx
Yay for Portland! I hope you have so much fun!
What if you asked a few close friends about a name for your work. Sometimes just a little creative input from friends helps spark your creativity.
